Glenbard High School District 87 received a $6,000 donation from the DuPage County Farm Bureau to support horticulture and agricultural education at all four Glenbard high schools.

Each campus offers two dual credit courses in collaboration with College of DuPage (Introduction to Horticulture 1100 and Introduction to Urban Sustainable Agriculture 2300).

Kara Norton of the DuPage County Farm Bureau, accompanied by state Rep. Terra Costa Howard and Luke Allen, an Illinois Ag Education Program Advisor, presented the donation to Mike Fumagalli, teaching and learning coordinator at Glenbard District 87 Administrative Center; Glenbard East’s Dave Krodel and Nick Scipione; Glenbard North’s Teresa Orlow; Glenbard South’s Gabby Peterson; and Glenbard West’s John Metzler and Kyle Nugent.

Student enrollment in this program has grown 70% since its inaugural year in 2023-24.

As a part of the courses, students participate in a number of field-based experiences, including leadership development and career exploration.
