A bill that would make the value of course credits equal across all Illinois higher learning institutions has passed out of the state Senate.
If passed, Senate Bill 2288 would update the Illinois Articulation Initiative Act to require public colleges and universities to accept all major courses approved for transfer by the act as equivalent major courses, so long as the institution receiving the credits has an equivalent major. The bill would also create a panel to provide an accelerated path towards education degrees.
Four-year institutions can now accept credits as major or elective credits, forcing some students to retake classes they already completed to earn a university degree.
