A bill making its way through the state legislature would allow alternative medicine practitioners to be licensed in Illinois — something those like Julia Leischner of South Jacksonville say could open more people to naturopathic treatment.
House Bill 3721, also known as the Naturopathic Medical Practice Act, would provide the means for naturopathic physicians in Illinois to be licensed in the state through an officially recognized board. The bill, filed by Rep. Terra Costa Howard, D-Lombard, would take effect immediately if passed. It was referred Feb. 28 to the Health Care Licenses Committee, where it has been since.
